Porcelain or Composite Resin Veneers

Correcting Broken Teeth, Discolored Teeth, and Uneven Teeth

Dental veneers provide an instant teeth whitening effect and hide a range of imperfections, such as chips, and unevenly sized, shaped or misaligned teeth. Veneers are made of a very thin layer of a tooth-coloured material designed to cover these imperfections. The procedure is minimally invasive, and the result looks just like natural teeth, but whiter and more even. Most patients with healthy teeth and gums are good candidates for dental veneers. Book a consultation with Dr. Sidiura today, and see if you could benefit from veneers.

Benefits of

Dental Veneers

Veneers are considered a permanent solution, meaning that they are not removable. Veneers are easy to care for, and require no special treatment. This means that once they are placed, you can forget about them, for the most part, other than by practicing good oral hygiene and avoiding unnecessary forces on them, which is not recommended for teeth, anyway.Veneers are excellent for whitening teeth if a patient is not a good candidate for other teeth whitening treatments, including people with multiple fillings or crowns, which will not lighten.

Although placing dental veneers is a cosmetic procedure, veneers do add strength to your tooth structure. Also, with proper care, veneers last for many years, and are more cost effective than some other dental treatments.

Types of Dental Veneers

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers have a translucent appearance, and most closely resemble natural teeth. A porcelain veneer is highly chip and stain resistant. Patients with porcelain veneers do not need whitening treatments.

Your porcelain custom made shells are made in a lab, so your dentist will place temporary veneers to last until your final ones are ready. During this dental procedure, a very thin layer of your natural enamel is removed. An impression or digital scan is taken, and sent to the lab for your custom porcelain veneers to be made from. When they are ready, your porcelain veneers are bonded on with dental cement at a second appointment.

Composite Veneers

For composite resin veneers, the surface of your teeth is etched, and layers of a tooth-coloured composite resin material is painted or molded onto your teeth in layers. After each layer of the composite resin material is applied, it is cured with an LED light.Composite resin veneers are more easily repaired if you do get a chip in the future, and only one appointment is required.

Caring For Your Dental Veneers

You will be able to eat and drink after this dental procedure. You care for them in the same way as you care for your real teeth, by brushing and flossing. A mouth guard to protect your dental veneers will help them last longer if you are prone to grinding your teeth or if you play contact sports. With composite resin veneers, it is recommended to avoid stain causing foods as much as possible. Although veneers are durable, don’t bite ice or hard objects, and don’t use them as tools to open things.

No Prep Veneers

Minimal prep veneers or no prep veneers are the thinnest option, and do not require tooth enamel removal. These dental veneers are placed in a single appointment, and do not require any local anesthetic during the veneering process. They are best for patients with minor imperfections.
